Every painting begins the same way.
I take a deep breath.
I pause.

Then I notice what captures my attention.
Sometimes it's light dancing across the landscape. Other times it's an old tree reaching toward the sky, or colors shifting in and out of light and shadow.
Then I become curious.
I begin asking questions.
The questions are different every time.
This is where every story begins.
